Teen singer from Surigao bags 2nd ‘Tawag’ win
MANILA — Teen singer Crismille Vallente easily defended her “Tawag ng Tanghalan” belt on Monday to notch her second win in the popular singing contest.
The high school student from Surigao del Norte defeated daily winner Elysa Villareal with her powerful rendition of Dessa’s “Lipad Ng Pangarap.”
The defending champion received a total score of 92.2 percent, while Villareal, who sang “Almost Is Never Enough” by Ariana Grande, got only 89 percent.
Vallente will return to the “It’s Showtime” stage on Tuesday to seek her third win. She needs five consecutive victories to automatically qualify for the semi-finals.
