Butuanon athletes snatch medals in Batang Pinoy 2022

BUTUAN CITY – Three young Butuanon athletes brought three (3) medals in the Batang Pinoy 2022 National Championships in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur last December 17-21, 2022.
In table tennis, the grade 9 from Libertad National High School Angela Marianito earned silver medal after the neck to neck match and putting a valiant effort against the veteran and experienced Jigyasa Cabrido from University of Santo Tomas who played and represented the Philippines in the international competitions in Thailand.
Both players gave the audience and spectators a very good and exciting game.
Meanwhile, Cherie Gail Hewe also won silver medal and Kim Dumanillo grabbed the bronze medal, both in chess event. Both players are from Agusan National High School.
“Dili ti-aw ang gi-agi-an sa mga atleta ning siyudad ilabina kay mga first timer kini sa maong kompetisyon gawas lang sa silver medalist sa table tennis nga si Angela Marianito,” said by Joel Ramira, Butuan City Sports Coordinator.Ramira also added that the young athletes will have a courtesy call and receive financial incentives from the local government unit of Butuan City.
All the athletes are looking forward to the next Batang Pinoy Competition and Division Athletic Meet in February, 2023. ###
