Chiz Picked by Almost 60% in New Pre-Election Senatorial Survey
Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero jumped to second place in the latest nationwide senatorial survey conducted by the Philippines-Mission and Development Foundation (RPMD) last month, gaining 6.6 percentage points to 58.2%.

Escudero, who is seeking a Senate seat in the May 9 national elections, improved his ranking from fifth place, when a similar survey was held by RPMD last November, after almost 60% of the 10,000 respondents chose him among pre-listed senatorial aspirants during a face-to-face interview from January 22-30, 2022.

The Halalan 2022 Survey is a non-commissioned research conducted by RPMD that polled registered voters. It has a margin of error of -/+1%, according to Dr. Paul Martinez of the research institution.

The veteran legislator, who has consistently topped various independent pre-election surveys, is eyeing a comeback in the Senate with a legislative agenda that focuses on giving more powers and autonomy to local government units and helping the next administration pluck out the country from economic hardship after two years into the pandemic.

Recently, there is a growing support for Escudero’s senatorial candidacy from party-list groups, namely An Waray, Kusog Bikolandia and Magdalo.

He is also personally endorsed by UniTeam vice-presidential candidate and incumbent Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, and mayors from CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Eastern Samar who belong to the League of Municipalities of the Philippines or LMP.

Last year, the tandems of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan; and Senator Manny Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza have adopted Escudero in their senatorial slates. #
