The Department of Education is still waiting for the learners to enroll for this school year 2020-2021. Since the opening of classes is fast approaching. Some of the parents are still in the midst of to be or not to be since the pandemic still rises.

From an interview to some of the parents. They believe that health is wealth and they will not gamble their children’s life for schooling if face to face happens. So, they rather not to send their children to school since vaccines are still unavailable. Guardians just wanted to secure their children’s health. Online teaching was born to cater learners instead of face to face learning.

Not all learners were blessed enough to have gadgets. This is one of the reasons why some of the parents choose to postpone their child’s study. In spite of this concern, The Department of Education created modular for the less fortunate. Where they can continue to learn from the printed materials provided.

Another reasons for stopping the child’s education is, some parents were not able to finish college, high school, or even elementary. Modular modality needs assistance of the parents but still how can this modality address the problem if the learner and the parents are both having a hard time to understand on the given modules?

The enrollment period was supposed to close on June 30, but DepEd extended it to July 16. Though enrollment was extended but still the number of enrollees which is 59% is not enough compared to the last school year enrollment.

The Department of Education is still waiting for the updated number of enrollees. Circulating news about of extension of enrollees occurs. It was mentioned that September will be the last month to cater learner. ###
