As the COVID-19 crisis emerged in the world today, education becomes at risk especially in the Philippines. Since Department of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones announced the opening of the school year 2020-2021 which will be on August 24, 2020, many schools especially the Butuan Central Elementary School has prepared for the coming of this school year in a different set-up: the face of the new normal. Being in the new normal brings challenge and extra effort to the administrators, teachers as well as the parents and learners. However, these challenges become the trademark of hardwork and dedication especially for the administrators and teachers who will be extending support and imparting knowledge to the pupils in a way they are not used to.
Dr. Jonas H. Jomonong, the school principal of BCES, monitors and extends his full support to the administrators and the teachers to the problems arising amidst the situation we are experiencing right now. At this time, the enrollment becomes the focal point as to assurance on the number of the pupils enrolled in different learning modalities presented. On the other hand, administrators give so much focus on what modalities each teacher should handle to ensure the ratio of the teacher to the learners.
Teachers have the major role in the implementation of the modalities since they have the direct contact with the learners and learning becomes possible in their hands. Thus, they should be aware of their lessons and prepare their instructional materials through online applications if they will choose online learning modality, however if they are part of modular modality, they should prepare the modules and provide copies that are ready for distribution.
No matter what challenges may occur, Butuan Central Elementary School is always ready to find ways for the learning to become accessible to all. ###
