Dengue has been the global human threat especially to young ones. It is a virus that can spread to people through a bite of mosquitoes particularly those of Aedes species. In BCES, there are one pupil reported for this school year whose life was caught by this dengue virus.

In response to this, the Butuan Central Elementary School initiated an activity: “Oplan Galugad Kontra Dengue” which service barangays have participated in. One of which is the Barangay Captain of Barangay New Society Village, Hon. Ibrahim T. Abdulhalim. He and his team personally conducted misting in all areas of the campus to eliminate mosquitoes breeding in areas like classrooms, comfort rooms, offices, canteen, and even in the school covered court.

The parents and stakeholders also cleaned the school grounds. Everyone shared a common goal which is to have a safe, clean, and dengue-free learning environment in BCES. The glimpse of a Bayanihan spirit can be seen in this initiative.

The DSWD’s 4Ps members who are enrolled in BCES also commit to the promise. Thus, they initiated a PAHINA which all of its members participated. They even planted vegetables and crops in the Gulayan sa Paaralan and lead the implementation and maintenance of the GPP.

Butuan Central Elementary School is greatly proud of these stakeholders and partners for giving their best and support to the school. ###
