LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES 1 FOR DIVISION AND SCHOOL LEADERS: A Reflection
Implementing LAC programs in school as a professional learning community is a good initiative in making teachers better in their craft and in maximizing their full potentials. Sharing of one’s meaningful teaching experiences to one’s colleagues a healthy practice where one can benchmark and make applicable to his or her own teaching experience.
As a capacity building program for teachers, the marvels of LAC are quite incomparable. But what makes it more challenging today is how to effectively implement it in the schools considering the fact that face-to-face implementation is strictly discouraged. A pro-active school head should find effective ways on how to sustain this program in the midst of this pandemic. Ways like virtual conduct of LAC using various online modalities and platforms or applications pave the way in sustaining this capacity building program and should continue to enhance teacher’s competence and improve their knowledge and pedagogies on certain topics.
To effectively deliver this program, there is a need to revisit the roles and functions of every LAC leader, LAC facilitator, LAC documenter and LAC members. Each has a crucial role to take in ensuring quality implementation of LAC in the school. When carefully planned and well organized, LAC would improve teaching and learning thus improve learning outcomes, nurture successful teachers, enable teachers support each other for continuous improvement of their knowledge, practices, skills and attitudes toward teaching and foster a professional collaborative spirit. ###
