Following the United Nations’ (UN) 75th anniversary, the Department of Education (DepEd) joins the celebration with the international theme: 2020 and Beyond – Shaping Our future Together.

DepEd, through the international Cooperation Office (ICO), will organize an online webinar in collaboration with the Office of the Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction, and with the United Nations Association of the Philippines on October 23, 2020 to celebrate the UN Day.

In a DepEd Memorandum No. 65, series of 2020 signed by DepEd secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, all DepEd personnel are enjoined to answer the one-minute survey, courtesy of the United Nations, to contribute to what the global priorities would be, now and in the future. The survey may be accessed through https://un75.online/.

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 member States. The mission and work of the UN are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. October 24 has been celebrated as UN Day since. 1948.

In 1971, the UN General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by Member States as a public holiday. By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 138, s. 1949, the 24th day of October of every year was declared United Nations Day. ###
