Katada, OIC Regional Director, and Chief Aquaculturist Rizalinda Labang Abing and her team met with Mayor Roberto M. Luna, Jr. to negotiate the development of a legally mandated multi-species marine hatchery in Brgy. Palo Alto, Lingig, Surigao del Sur.

Their meeting focused on reaching a consensus between the local government entity and the BFAR on how to collaborate on the initiative.

Mayor Luna has pledged to support the electrification of the marine hatchery by 2022.

Similarly, the newly appointed Regional Director graced the training on lobster seed stock evaluation, where he outlined the rules and requirements of Fisheries Administrative Order 265 (“Regulation on the Catching, Possession, Transportation, Selling, Trading, and Exporting of Puerulus, Juvenile, and Gravid Spiny Lobster (Palinuridae)”) to the fisherfolk beneficiaries.
