Butuan City – The Department of Education (DepEd) has affirmed its commitment to teacher welfare by implementing a mandatory 30-day vacation leave for all eligible educators. Under DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2024, signed by Education Secretary Sonny Angara on September 18, teachers who have been in service for at least a year, as well as those appointed within four months after the start of classes, are entitled to 30 days of vacation service credits annually. For School Year 2024-2025, this uninterrupted break will take place from April 19 to May 18, 2025, ensuring that teachers can fully detach from their work responsibilities.

This initiative allows educators to prioritize their personal well-being, spend quality time with their families, and recover from the demands of teaching. During this period, teachers are exempt from any school-related commitments, including administrative tasks, professional development activities, or planning sessions. DepEd recognizes the essential role of rest in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of educators, reinforcing the importance of work-life balance.

By granting this guaranteed vacation, DepEd aims to promote teachers’ mental and physical well-being, leading to improved performance in the classroom. Ensuring that educators have time to recharge aligns with DepEd’s broader vision of sustaining a motivated and high-performing teaching force. This policy underscores the department’s dedication to providing quality education by first taking care of the professionals who deliver it. ###
