Month of May was declared as National Heritage Month

With this year’s theme “Championing Heritage: Capacity Building to Transform Communities”, the National Heritage Month (NHM) emphasizes the much-needed support for the cultural workers and advocates with the local communities and indigenous peoples by boosting the knowledge and skills in heritage management.
Presidential Proclamation No. 439, s. 2003 declared May of every year as the NHM and should be celebrated annually.
The schools, schools division offices, and regional offices of the Department of Education (DepEd) are encouraged to support the 2024 NHM by undertaking related activities such as the active posting and sharing of the NHM advocacy materials in their schools divisions and schools website and social media accounts.
DepEd are also encouraged to participate in the online campaign thread about the NHM celebration by sharing heritage-related content, including photos, videos, news features and other collaterals released by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and NHM Facebook Pages.
Also, the DepEd are encouraged to use various online audiovisual programs and contents related to heritage, such as Dayaw, Philippine Heritage Awards, and previous videos of National Heritage Month as part of instructional materials for students, accessible through the NCCA Learning Hub; and organize own NHM activities and participate in heritage-related events such as seminars, webinars, workshops, lectures and exhibits. ###
