The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), in coordination with the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and their Children (IACVAWC), will spearhead the nationwide 2023 Observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) with the theme, UNITED for a VAW-free Philippines from November 25 to December 12, 2023. The campaign is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1772, s. 2006, Declaring November 25 to December 12 of Every Year as the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, and Republic Act No. 10398, Declaring November 25 of Every Year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children.
The Department of Education Butuan City Division will celebrate the said campaign and will serve as an opportune time to further the MATATAG agenda of inclusive education through the implementation of Gender and Development (GAD) programs, projects, and activities in line with the Department’s mandate of providing gender-responsive basic education.
As ordered by the Department’s Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Atty. Michael Wesley T. Poa, all DepEd offices are encouraged to undertake public awareness campaign activities by hanging streamers bearing this year’s campaign theme, upload official logo; advocacy videos and materials on the official website or social media accounts; acquire and produce information, education and communication materials for distribution to clients; and other activities. ###
