Over 1K eligible AgNor women receive financial assistance from DSWD, Sen. Marcos

BUTUAN CITY — Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday, March 29, led the distribution of financial assistance to eligible individuals in the province of Agusan del Norte.
More than a thousand women comprising of women in crisis situations, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and solo parents together with Second Congressional District representative Dale B. Corvera, Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante, local chief executives, and other local officials warmly welcomed Senator Marcos at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court in Butuan City and Nasipit Municipal Gymnasium in Nasipit town for the distribution of the financial assistance.
Five local government units of the province with a total of 1,365 beneficiaries received their financial assistance at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court. These include the beneficiaries from Remedios T. Romualdez with 78; Jabonga with 107; 510 from Buenavista; Las Nieves with 221; and Cabadbaran City with 449.
Each beneficiary received P3,000 financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Sen. Marcos acknowledged the important role of women which is the reason why it is relevant for women to receive support from the government especially the vulnerable women.
The senator also assured the governor and the Agusanons present during the distribution of financial assistance of her support and vowed to provide additional budget to the province to help uplift the living conditions of the poor sector.
“I will continue to look into the plight of the poor and the farmers, provide them with assistance that will help improve their living conditions,” she said.
Marcos also announced that starting April of this year, each qualified rice farmer will receive P5,000 as rice subsidy through the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The governor is thankful to the senator for not only visiting the province but also for giving priority in the provision of financial assistance. “It is a great privilege to have been visited by a hardworking, intelligent and sincere senator to lead in the distribution of the financial assistance,” Amante added.
Corvera expressed gratitude to the senator, saying, “We are very fortunate that the senator came here, not only to visit us but also to provide financial support to the different local government units,” he said.
After the ceremonial distribution of financial assistance in the morning of March 29, Senator Marcos met with the grantees of DA Caraga’s Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Financial Grant Assistance Program (E-Kadiwa) and the winners of the 2022 Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Program in the province at the SP Session Hall in Butuan City.
The young farmers, according to the senator, will help the agriculture sector through the introduction of new techniques and strategies in farming. These ‘bagets’ farmers will continue to provide the country with rice, as the country’s staple food, she added.
Sen. Marcos also met with the local media before her engagement in the municipality of Nasipit.
