CENRO conducts ecological waste disposal orientation in PVCES

To orient the pupils about the proper waste disposal and different classifications of wastes in the school and community was the main purpose of City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) at Pedro-Victorina Calo Elementary School (PVCES) Multi-purpose hall on March 29, 2023, Wednesday.
Bernardita Tecson, assistant environmentalist of CENRO discussed the Republic Act 9003 also known as Ecological Waste Management act.
She also reiterated the importance 4R’s reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse that were very helpful to mitigate and manage the wastes/garbages.
“Aduna kitay tulo ka klase nga malata nga basura, kitchen, garden and human waste”, Mrs. Tecson said as she explained the different kinds of biodegradable waste.
Aside from biodegradable, she also explained the different classifications of waste like recyclable, residual, special/ hazardous and infectious waste.
“Dili basta basta ilabay ang mga basura kay makaguba sa kinaiyahan”, she said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Manuelito Bagulos, assistant environmentalist and social media manager of CENRO explained the Anti-Littering Ordinance Act of Butuan City, SP Ordinance Act of 2010.
“Importante nga kabalo ta mu segregate og basura para makatabang tag limpyo sa school og kumunidad,” Bagulos said.
They also demonstrated and showed to the learners how to segregate waste properly.
Lastly, they encouraged the pupils to disseminate the information and help the school and community to have a safe, healthy and zero waste environment. ###
