To ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030, the Department of Education (DepEd) announces the observance of the 2023 International Day of Education (IDE) with the theme “To Invest in People, Prioritize Education.” Said observance is to amplify the call for education to be prioritized to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the context of a global recession, growing inequalities, and the climate crisis.

With the proclamation of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), January 24 was dedicated as IDE, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development. Without inclusive and equitable quality education, and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

All concerned regional offices and school division offices are enjoined to support the 2023 IDE by organizing relevant activities for the learners and for other stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and nonteaching personnel. ###
