TUPAD beneficiaries in Surigao, Agusan get P2.6-M pay

BUTUAN CITY – Some 652 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghapbuhay sa Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) of the Department of Labor and Employment in the provinces of Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Norte received a total of PHP2,674,000 payments for the community services they rendered in their localities.
In a statement Wednesday, the City Information Office (CIO) of Bislig City in Surigao del Sur, said a total of PHP1,750,000 payments were released to 500 TUPAD beneficiaries in a one-day distribution activity in the city on Tuesday.
“Each of the beneficiaries received PHP3,500 payments for the services they rendered in their respective barangays,” the CIO said.
The beneficiaries were displaced workers, the underemployed, and the seasonal workers who were affected by the recent calamities that hit Bislig, it added.
Meanwhile, at least 115 TUPAD beneficiaries were also paid for their services in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte on Tuesday.
The office of 2nd district of Agusan del Norte Rep. Dale Corvera said each of the beneficiaries got PHP5,250 payments for the 15-day community service they rendered.
A total of PHP603,750 payments were disbursed to the beneficiaries in a distribution activity that was led by Cabadbaran Mayor Judy Chin Amante.
Corvera said a separate 37 members of the indigenous peoples (IPs) community in Tubay, Agusan del Norte, also received TUPAD benefits on Tuesday.
At least PHP350,000 in payments were distributed by Corvera and representatives from the DOLE in Agusan del Norte to the IP beneficiaries during the activity. (PNA)
