238 AgNor PWDs to benefit free operations
BUTUAN CITY – Persons with disabilities (PWDs) from the different municipalities of the province of Agusan del Norte and Butuan City availed of the free bone screening and medical assessment facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and conducted by Tebow Cure Hospital Medical Team from Davao City.
PSWDO Agusan del Norte chief Dr. Silver Joy Tejano said, a total of 238 PWDs have passed the screening and assessment and will benefit the free operations at Tebow Cure Hospital in Davao City. “The transportation of the PWDs in going to Davao City for their operations will be sponsored by their respective local government units,” Tejano added.
The 238 PWDs who qualified the free operations include 177 with harelip/cleft palate, 17 with hernia condition, and 44 with orthopedic conditions, said Dr. Tejano.
Maria Alyssa Intong from Barangay Comagascas, Cabadbaran City of the province of Agusan del Norte, one of the PWDs is grateful to the provincial government for facilitating this kind of program for the PWDs. She also hopes that the provincial government will continue to conduct this kind of activity, so other PWDs like her can also avail and benefit of the free services.
Also, Edmar Pimontil from Cabadbaran City is hopeful that Tebow Cure Hospital will continue to help PWDs and will serve more PWDs not only in Agusan del Norte but all PWDs who need their help and services. “It is a big help to us, all are free, from screening, assessment to operation, a big relief to us,” said Pimontil.
Tebow Cure Hospital Social Services Director Rosemarie Baco, revealed that the team is tasked to visit different regions to offer the services of the hospital. In Caraga region, first visit was made to the of province of Agusan del Norte then followed by Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur. (Nora C. Lanuza)
