This study explores the effects of peer-tutoring in Mathematics for the poorly-performing students in the aforementioned subject during the first grading period. The sample of this study composed of (10) Grade 7 students from section “Sampaguita” and “Sunflower.”

The sample of the study was paired with the ten identified Grade 7 students who shows exemplar performance in Mathematics during the first grading period. The two sections were fused during the third grading period to acquire reliable result of data. Both groups studied the same curriculum, same materials, and both groups had been taught by the same instructor. Data were collected by using all the Mathematics Achievement Test (MACT) which was prepared by the researcher.

In order to analyze the data, the researcher used methods such as Standard Deviation and Percentage Test. The result of the study found that peer-tutoring strategy is an active tool to increase the mathematical achievement of the student. The study recommended the teachers to use peer-tutoring in order to improve the performance of the students in the aforementioned subject.

The strategy of “PEER-TUTORING“ has been adopted and implemented by the researcher throughout her classes in Mathematics in Cabcabon National High School, North District Butuan City since S.Y 2017-2018 up to S.Y 2019-2020  and will be continuously used once the normal way (face-to-face classes) of educational system in the country will resume. ###
