ABSTRACT

The researcher desired to try out the 5E’s instructional model approach to his class. It is noted that the 25 pupils in grade six in Daan Taligaman Elementary School got 50% achievement rate in Science which possibly perceive that the grade six does have low performance in Science.
The major concern of this study is to determine the effect of 5E’s instructional model to the performance in Science of the Grade VI pupils of Daan Taligaman Elementary School. The study used a descriptive research design. There were 25 grade 6 pupils as respondents in this study. It used a research instrument such as the pre and post-test in Science and survey on the use of 5E’s instructional approach to determine the performance and its impact to the respondents to further determine the impact of it. It used the frequency percent, weighted mean, mean percentage score and p-test as statistical treatments in analyzing the data.
It is found in this study that the p-value of 1.08 x 10-8 is less than the level of significance of 0.05 indicates that there is a significant difference between the scores in pretest and posttest of the pupils. This implies that the instructional method is still an effective tool to enhance performance of the students.
It is indicated that the 5E’s approach can be an effective alternative remedial instruction to enhance learning of the students who did not master certain learning competencies. Instead of re-teaching the lesson, the teacher may just use the instructional model for remediation. Thus, the teacher may save time and effort; and may just proceed teaching the next lessons.
