ABSTRACT
Information Technology (IT) application becomes a need and a necessity in the corporate world both in profit- service oriented and non- profit service oriented organizations whether private or government firm. It has to do with the adoption of the Computer- based management information system (MIS) which is considered as the heart of the organization as it constantly creates and disseminates information and become the forefront of all levels of government endeavors. The advance of Information Technology made it possible for all the government employees to play an active role in all aspects of the development, implementation, operation, and evolution of IT application. This study used the descriptive comparative survey method and used the two researcher- made survey questionnaire for the respondents profile questionnaire and the pre- service training questionnaire for each of the five IT training software. The respondents of the study were the employees of government offices based in Butuan City from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) with 30 respondents, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) with 5 respondents, and one (1) from the Local Government Unit (LGU)- Nutrition Task Force Office a total of 36 respondents. This study is conducted in Butuan City, Caraga Region, Mindanao, Philippines. The aimed of this study is unbendable to determine the effects of IT trainings on the job proficiency and attitude of employees of government offices based in Butuan City as influenced by the IT Application Software (MS Word), Spreadsheet Software (MS Excel), Presentation Software (MS Power Point), Data Base Software (MS Access), and the Communication Software (Internet). The result of this study challenged the researcher to determine the respondent’s profiles which are the government employees among selected socio- demographic variables and the level of job proficiency and attitude before and after exposure of the IT trainings. Respondents claimed to have a fair to average performance before the trainings that becomes very satisfactory after the IT Training. The findings of the study revealed that respondents have a remarkable progress on their job performance on job proficiency and attitude.
