To showcase the most important transformations that have to be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful futures, the department of Education (DepEd) announces the observance of the 2022 International Day of Education (IDE) with the theme, Changing Course, Transforming Education.
January 24 was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as the IDE in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.
The IDE is aimed to generate debate on the essential triggers of transformations to build more equitable and inclusive education systems that will accelerate progress towards SDG 4, taking on board findings of UNESCO’s Futures of Education Report; showcase transformation in action with the potential for scaling to advance digital inclusion, green competencies and skills, and gender equality; mobilized political will to address gaping inequalities in access and completion of education, in line with SDG 4; spotlight student voices on what changes and innovations they want to see to make their education more fit for purpose; and spotlight teachers’ voices on the future of their profession, from integrating technology in their practice of orienting teaching and learning around new skills and mindsets for people and planet.
Per DepEd Memorandum No. 003, s. 2022 signed by Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, the Department through the International Cooperation Office will organize an online webinar, in collaboration with its partner agencies and organizations, on January 24 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM via Facebook Live of DepEd PH and DepEd-ICO Facebook Page, to celebrate the 2022 IDE.
Target participants are the educators and learners representing different schools, as well as other organizations and education systems from countries around the world. ###
