Taligaman NHS initiates Project Counter

Due to the erratic classification of Barangay Taligaman under the COVID-19 pandemic, Taligaman National High School (TNHS) initiated the Project Counter (Checking-Out Undoubtedly and Turning-In Efficiently of Resources) to address the module distribution more conveniently.

As Barangay Taligaman was under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine classification by the time the classes for school year 2021-2022 started, TNHS, through its academic head and project innovator, Mr. Glen B. Pacot, MT-I, resorted to an initiative that would make the process of the distribution and retrieval of modules more accessible, more convenient, and safer considering the present situation.

We are very concerned about the safety of the stakeholders during the distribution and retrieval of modules. However, we couldn’t let students’ education suffer. I believe with this initiative, we would be able to ensure safety of the parents and guardians while obtaining the modules which their children have to study,” Mr. Pacot said.

The Project Counter has very simple steps to follow which made the distribution and retrieval of modules more convenient and easier. During distribution, parents will pick the modules from assigned classrooms, check the number of modules received, and swipe the IDs of their children into the scanner to confirm that the said modules have been claimed. Upon retrieval of the modules, parents need to check first the number of modules as well as the completeness of their children’s outputs, return the modules to the respective boxes with labeled subjects, and swipe the IDs to confirm the retrieval.

“It is expected that the parents and guardians will have confusion which could somehow cause delay to the process since it is done in school for the first time. However, in the next schedules of distribution and retrieval, it would be a lot easier for them as they are already aware of the process,” Mr. Pacot added.

The project assures the safety of the parents as well as the teachers on-duty since physical contact is not needed. The parents are very much involved in the process. On the other hand, the teachers will just assist and facilitate to guarantee that the process is followed.

Project Counter received applause from the office of DepEd Butuan City Division as this innovation has greatly helped not just in the distribution and retrieval of modules but on the safety among the stakeholders as well. ###
