Reiterating the Department of Education’s commitment to providing access to basic medical and dental services to address the health challenges faced by learners, DepEd conducted a simultaneous inauguration of medical and dental clinics of 1,869 Central Elementary Schools nationwide including Butuan Central Elementary School (BCES) on Monday, September 6.
The said activity is part of the celebration of One Health Week alongside the launching of the School Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP) as one of the flagship programs under OK sa DepEd with the theme “Bayanihan para sa Kalusugan: OK sa DepEd, sa Paaralan, at sa Tahanan” from September 6-11, 2021.
BCES is one of the representative schools in Caraga Region to be part of the virtual national simultaneous ribbon-cutting ceremony via Zoom Conference and broadcasted through DepEd’s various media pages.
Dr. Marilou B. Dedumo, Schools Division Superintendent, and Dr. Lorenzo O. Macasocol, Assistant Regional Director led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the BCES clinic which was witnessed by few invited teachers, nurses, and visitors onsite.
Prior to the event, Dr. Luisito G. Pero, School Principal of BCES, together with the head teachers ensured the preparedness and readiness of the school clinic through securing its cleanliness, arrangement in the facility, and adherence to the IATF health protocols.
“I am thankful to the Department of Education, to Dr. Dedumo our SDS, for allocating funds and resources for the establishment of our new school clinic we are inaugurating today. It is our main goal to ensure the health, well-being, and safe return of our learners once limited face-to-face classes are approved. We will make sure that the safety of our pupils and teachers remain as our top priority”, Dr. Pero pronounced.
Aside from the newly constructed school clinic, the school is very much grateful also to the additional health supplies and equipment that would be useful and surely benefit the school community.
“The school will ensure that all of the additional health supplies and equipment will be put to good use. We have already assigned a teacher in charge of the clinic since BCES still doesn’t have a permanent school nurse. We have already requested for a permanent school nurse since our school caters to more than 4,000 pupils and 153 teachers”, the school principal added. ###
