Consistent with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) thrust to strengthen the culture of evidence-based decision-making and policy development, DepEd conducted the Research O’clock to promote the use of research results and evidence in decision-making, program designing and implementation, and to plan formulation and adjustment in the basic education sector.
In a memorandum issued by DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, the Research o’clock has stated in 2018, this research dissemination forum convenes educators, researchers, program implementers, education leaders, and policymakers to discuss gains and challenges in education and provide valuable inputs.
This year, the Research o’clock will support the continuing implementation of the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) with the theme, Evidence in Learning Continuity. It is aimed to provide a deeper understanding of how the BE-LCP responds to the basic education needs of the learners, Individual episodes will highlight emerging evidence of effective practices and innovations in continually providing quality and inclusive basic education under a public health emergency.
The research forum shall virtually engage stakeholders nationwide and shall aid DepEd in upholding the quality and rights of the Filipino learners for basic education. It will run six episodes from August to October 2021 and will be live-streamed through the DepEd Philippines Facebook page. ###
