BCES jin bags bronze in Online National Speed Kicking Championship

Fueled with great determination and powerful kicks, Paul Raven F. Benigay – a 12 year old grade 6 pupil of Butuan Central Elementary School crushed his competitors, scoring 6.233 points, and seized the bronze medal in the online 2021 National Interschool Speed Kicking Championship held last June 26-27.
The fancy kicking Paul Raven manifested his super key plays in the Free Kick cadet male brown fin-fly category leaving and choking the other players.
Paul Raven ended as a medalist through the efforts exerted by coach Rigor Avenido who also managed the whole team, Team Madrig, showcasing their blazing kicks during the competition.
With the contact sports still prohibited because of the pandemic, taekwondo tournaments have since moved online.
The event, which does not involve sparring, let players perform various levels of exercises that will be graded by judges remotely.
“Medyo nabag-uhan ko sa sugod, but then naka adjust ra ko with the help sa akong coach,” uttered Paul during the phone interview.
Paul Raven is now preparing for the upcoming Asian Online Open Taekwondo Poomsae and Speed Kicking Championships on July 10-11, 2021. The young athlete’s passion for sports made his Parents, coach, peers and most especially his very own school Butuan Central Elementary School always proud. ###
