As a school which continues to excel academically, it caters the best interest of its learners taking into consideration the instructional materials used by the teachers to effect quality instruction. One of the best tools utilized by the classroom teachers for the teaching-learning activity are books issued by the Department of Education. However, some issues and concerns related to textbooks occur when the data shows the book losses annually. Unfortunately, BCES has declared 3,569 book losses for three (3) years with an average of 1,190 book losses annually. Therefore, the school losses 3.44% of the total number of books issued each school year. It is significantly higher compared to the 1% buffer given by the Department of Education intended for the replacement of lost books. This augment the BCES CI Team OPTIMIZERS (Ellen B. Cubillas, Joseph A. Maestrado, Razeliza P. Ventura, Ma. Luningning S. Magarro and Edalyn B. Sumayo under the supervision of Mrs. Remedios C. Hinampas, School Principal to look for a possible solution to address this issue. Series of interviews and surveys are conducted by the group. With the constant meetings and in-depth discussions with CI Coach Dr. Donald D. Orbillos, the team were able to draft final process flow to address the problem. On March 8, 2019, the Project ProDCaRRe Proper Distribution, Care, Recording and Retrieval of Books has been officially launched in Butuan City Division. The Project ProDCaRRe aims to establish an enhanced system on the proper distribution, care, recording and retrieval of issued books anchored to DepEd Order No. 14, series 2012 and to reduce the number of book losses. The year after its launching, the project has been fully implemented in our school by our Project owner the Property Custodians with the full support of new School Head Dr. Jonas H. Jomonong, a very active leader who holds more brilliant ideas added to the CI Project on year 2019 to 2020. Currently, the CI team under the leadership of new installed School Principal Dr. Luisito G. Pero continuously improve the process flow applied to new normal since the school encountered challenges in retrieval of books due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, the CI Team OPTIMIZERS won’t fail to continue the project because this would benefit the DepEd, School Administrators, Teachers, Parents and school children in the end. The utmost utilization of books is one of the great avenues in attaining effective and efficient instruction towards quality education. ###
