The world is currently fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Strict protocols have been implemented and followed. Health, economic, unemployment, and spiritual life are just some aspects affected by this pandemic. People are struggling especially, those livelihoods, businesses that had been closed. Hospitals are no longer a safe place for those who have diseases. Gatherings have were prohibited and canceled. Family abroad would not be able to stay with their loved ones. Many lives have were lost. Are you feeling fear amid the COVID-19 pandemic? If so, you are not alone. Everyone is at risk. Fear is a never welcomed feeling! An average human experiences fear countless times in his lifetime. Why? Humans in nature are subject to these feelings especially, in this time of the pandemic. This is going out of control, and the lives of the people were shaken. There were people in the news who died by suicide. Hence, they were not able to manage the circumstances. The government is still working on it, still finding ways to stop this deadly disease.
To conquer stress, fear, and anxiety, the word of God has given the assurance that individuals are longing. He promised to save his people at times of distress. God is not a respecter of person whatever and whoever you are. Everyone has his level of faith to believe. Jesus said in His words, “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the one who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6.
Elijah was a man in the bible who experienced defeat in his mind and body. And when he laid under a tree, he begged God to end his life. What happens next is interesting. How God dealt with the fear of Elijah gives us the assurance that God cares for his children and is ready to remove whatever makes them afraid. The story of Elijah perfectly displays and captures some of the important aspects of our battles with fear. Often, we know of the things God can do, and thus, we never doubt God’s power. What we doubt is rather His goodness as it applies to us. We are afraid of the terrible things that might come our way as part of the overarching good plan for the world. Just like Elijah, we are afraid of what will be asked of us. We can see the world fallen apart; we feel exhausted, spent, broken. Thus, our trust is wounded as well. If that is where you are at the moment, you should listen to the gentle whisper of truth. When in doubt and dismay, you should do like Elijah in the following steps to overcome your fear. Surrender totally to God, be honest about the challenges, find something positive, act in a definite way to defeat fear. Lastly, please the Lord. (simple -faith.net, 2020). The hope in life is of God. Whatever life may bring just hold your faith unto him. Let him control everything because he is the God of creation. ###
