DepEd supports 17th National Dental Health Month Celebration

With the theme Paigtingin: Oral Health for Juan at Juanas sa gitna ng Pandemya, the Department of Education (DepEd) celebrates this year’s 17th National Dental Health Month throughout the month of February.
The observance will carry the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) tag line Brush at Floss Kontra Toothloss.
This year’s theme aims to strengthen public awareness and reiterate the importance of good oral hygiene habit amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
Per Department of Education (DepEd) Memorandum No. 6, s. 2021 issued by Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, DepEd school dentist are advised to coordinate with PDA local chapters and other stakeholders on eh activities scheduled during the month-long celebration. Since face-to-face classes are still suspended, DepEd offices may also conceptualize creative activities for learners and their families promoting oral health education utilizing online and other platforms that are accessible to learners who will be staying in their homes during the period of the campaign, secretary Briones said.
Dentists and other school health personnel in the regional and schools division offices shall take the lead in the celebration, secretary Briones added. ###
