DepEd issues guidelines on the adoption of K to 12 transition curriculum framework for learners with disabilities
The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued the policy guidelines on the adoption of the k to 12 transition curriculum framework for learners with disabilities (LWDs) which articulates the principles, features and standards that will establish common understanding on the transition of LWDs in all public and private schools nationwide.
Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones issued DepEd order No. 21, s. 2020 which is anchored on the principles of enclusivity and equity, which considers the LWDs individual interests, abilities, capacities, strengths, and special needs.
DepEd Order No. 21 entitled policy Guidelines on the k to 12 Basic Education Program, puts further emphasis on what the filed implementers can offer to LWDs in terms of their life pathway, which include but is not limited to higher education, entrepreneurship, employment, middle level skills development, or functional life path.
