2019 Metrobank-MTAP-DEPED Math challenge regional finals set in Butuan City

The Metrobank Foundation, Inc., the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP), and the Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga region through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division will conduct the 2019 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge Regional Finals on March 1, 2019 in Butuan City.
The competition will help contribute in improving quality of mathematics education in the Philippines. It is aimed to awaken greater interest in Mathematics among elementary and junior high school learners in the region; challenge learners to strive for excellence in Mathematics; discover mathematically talented learners to represent Caraga in the national finals; and develop the value of hard work, perseverance, honesty, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The participants of the regional finals are the coaches and top placers of both Grade 6 and Grade 10 during the Division Elimination Rounds provided they meet the hurdle rate of 25 out of a perfect score of 50 and the Division First Place winners of Grade 6 and Grade 10 in the Division Finals provided they meet the hurdle rate of 30 points out of the perfect score of 60, and all the Division Math Supervisors/Coordinators and select personnel of the regional office.
The Metrobank Foundation will provide the cash prize, medals and trophies while MTAP shall provide the certificates. The top three individual winners and members of the top three winning teams shall receive the following: first place will receive P4,000 for Grade 6 and P6,000 for Grade 10; second place – P3,000 (Grade 6) and P5,000 (Grade 10; and third place – P2,000 (Grade 6) and P4,000 for the Grade 10.
A portion of the cash prize will be used to open Fun Saves Club, a Metrobank savings account for kids. ###
