Facebook working out safeguards against abuse of users’ data

Social media giant Facebook is in the thick of efforts at devising safeguards against abuse of its millions of subscribers’ data.

An article on TechCrunch, an online publisher of technology industry news, said that Facebook is doing the fixes as it reels from backlash over the Cambridge Analytica data breach.

The data breach evolved a collection of personal information of about 50 million Facebook users that Cambridge Analytica had collected.

According to the article, “Facebook will launch a certification tool that demands that marketers guarantee email addresses used for ad targeting were rightfully attained.”

Aside from the Custom Audiences certification tool, Facebook will also prevent the sharing of Custom Audience data across Business accounts. LBG, GMA News
