National Literacy conference set on Sept. 27 to 29

BUTUAN CITY – In celebration of the annual Literacy Week as stipulated in Presidential Proclamation No. 239 entitled Declaring the Period from September 2 to 8 of Every Year as Literacy Week, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the Literacy Coordinating Council (LCC) and in cooperation and coordination with other government organizations, local government units, private organizations and non-government organizations will hold the 2017 National Literacy Conference on September 27 to 29, 2017.
This year’s conference celebration is anchored on the theme ”Lifelong Learning in a Digital World”, will be held in Cagayan de Oro City.
The conference aims to explore the current local and international trends and innovations in digital literacy; exchange experiences in utilizing digital interventions in literacy programs for lifelong learning; and promote the wide use of ICT in implementing literacy programs and practices.
During the conference, the presentation of the National Literacy Hall of Fame Award to Balanga City, and Municipality of Cuyo, Palawan for being three-time first place winners in the Outstanding Local Government Unit (City Level and Municipal Level Class) category in the National Literacy Awards will also be held.
