Tungao Central ES conducts 3-Day Capacity-Building on Action Research Development

A three-day capacity-building for teachers on action research development was conducted on February 17, 24 and March 2, 2017 at Tungao CES hall.
Mrs. Jessebel D. Arcalas, faculty president gave her opening remarks emphasizing on the teacher’s role in improving teaching-learning process through action research. Mrs. Ana Maria A. Carcueva, master teacher II shared the purpose of the said activity giving importance on the rationale and objectives of the said learning engagement.
The school principal started his talk on the leveling of expectations of the participants in which their outputs were shared and processed. He then oriented the teachers on the different legal bases on the conduct of action researches such as DepEd Order No. 43 s. 2015 and division memorandum No. 242 s. 2016.
The highlight of the said activity was the comprehensive discussions on action research development, its basic concepts and principles, teacher research, processes and the parts. After which, workshops followed in which the participants were required to write their research title, statement of the problem and the research paradigm in order to give a clearer picture on the research variables, if any. A gallery walk was conducted where teachers roamed around the participants’ outputs, wrote comments and suggestions while the speaker checked the outputs and gave some corrections and suggestions.
On the second day, the speaker taught the participants on how to write the introduction, review of related literature and how to shortcut URL as internet sources. Workshop then followed. The speaker emphasized that in action research, the introduction and the review of related literature as well as the use of statistical tools and data interpretation is not so strict compared to a full-blown research. Furthermore, the speaker shared and presented the school research handbook and the School Heads Development Program (SHDP): Foundation Course Application Project.
On the last day of the training, Mr. Lewellyn V. Mejias, Education Program Supervisor and the foster brother of the district shared important inputs on how o write an action research. After which, the participants presented their manuscript of the research proposals for checking, validating and making some corrections and suggestions for polishing thereby making the research output with quality and relevance. It is expected also that by April, the participants will be presenting their final research output during the first school research congress.
The three-day activity aims to orient the participants on DepEd Order No. 43, s. 2015 and Division Memorandum No. 242, s. 2016, orient teachers on the basic foundation in conducting action research, present school research council handbook as a guide in conducting action research, capacitate teachers in the conduct of research, write action research proposal, create school research council and discuss the format, goals and processes of action research.
