Search for sustainable, eco-friendly schools set
BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR) in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and other government and private partners will conduct the 2017 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools.
The search aims to encourage schools or academic institutions to become more actively involved in environmental issues at practical and local level.
Said search also aims to develop skills and understanding among the students, faculty and school administrators in initiating active responses and increasing community awareness and participation in environmental concerns.
In Butuan City, schools division superintendent Arsenio T. Cornites, Jr. has ordered concerned schools officials to conduct a Division Search on March 21 – 22, 2017 for secondary and elementary school category. According to Cornites, winners of the division search shall be submitted to the regional search on April 28, 2017. ## (Remy T. Dormido, DepEd Butuan City)
