Barangay Taligaman holds Colourful Fiesta, 5th Araw ng Taligaman
The celebration of Barangay Taligaman in its Fiesta Celebration was indeed one of a kind. Despite of being a rural barangay, its colourful celebration made an impressive mark to everyone who attended the heavy weeklong festivity from August 10 to 16, 2016. Even prior to this week, dance clash, discos, and basketball eliminations were also done. The Barangay Council really planned for these various activities that truly captivated the interests not only of their constituents but the other barangays as well.
On its weeklong celebration, the following night events were conducted; That’s My Tomboy (August 10), Miss Teens Taligaman (August 11), Mutya ng Taligaman (August 12), Grand Alumni Night (August 13), Hot Mom (August 14), Bikini Open (August 15) and Grand Disco (August 16).
On August 13, 5th Grand Alumni Homecoming with the theme, “Tapok-Tapok 2016” was hosted by batch 1991 in which it kicked off in the morning with motorcade and followed by an opening program. At night, the attendees became greater as the Taligaman Covered Court was crammed by representatives of the different batches bringing with them bountiful food and pleasant memories. It was highlighted by the Search for Alumni King and Queen 2016 in which Batch ____ was declared the winner.
On August 14, the 5th Araw ng Taligaman was graced by the Barangay Officials, different purok officers and members, TNHS and TES Faculty and Staff, and spectators. Each purok showed their best talents by presenting various intermission numbers. The teachers in both elementary and secondary levels also showcased fantastic dance numbers. The day was filled with fun and laughter as everyone participated in the laro ng lahi competitions.
On August 16, after the holy mass and mass baptism, a grand parade led by the Taligaman National High School (TNHS) and Taligaman Elementary School (TES) Drum and Lyre Corps indicated the start of the colourful and joyous celebration of the Feast of Sr. San Roque. Basketball Finals for the different categories were also done on the same date.
People were jam-packed on the streets finding houses to celebrate fiesta with their relatives and friends. Others were busy buying merchandize items and playing games in the carnival.
“I am so grateful that this celebration ended very successfully. My sincerest gratitude to those who became instruments for this eminent success”, said Hon. Florita I. Janiola, Barangay Captain. ## (By: Glen B. Pacot)
