First Staging of Pahugyaw 2016: A Success

The Faculty and Staff Variety Show for a Cause labelled “Pahugyaw 2016” of Taligaman National High School (TNHS) turned out to be a huge success as Taligaman Covered Court was jam-packed not only by the students of the said school but also by the residents within and adjacent barangays on March 11, 2016.
As one of the highlights of this year’s high school days, it was first time for the school to initiate this great endeavour to showcase talents and skills of TNHS faculty and staff; provide entertainment to the viewers; and generate income for the programs and projects of the school.
Revolving on this year’s theme, “Reminiscing the Past, Appreciating the Present, and Anticipating the Future”, the show included magic, advertisements, acting and hit song and dance performances in years 1960s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
“We are witnessing a historic event of our school as we show the other sides of our dear faculty and staff. This is an avenue where you can see our unity and one of our ways of expressing our heartfelt thanks for believing in Taligaman National High School,” said Ruth A. Castromayor, Principal.
This is another milestone for Taligaman National High School to shine in the field of education by making new waves of services that it can offer aside from the usual teaching inside the four walls of the classroom. It just simply showed that teachers could still perform best in the entertainment arena. Guided by a common vision, they were one in providing well-applauded performances despite of the busy life of being a teacher.
“I thought it was just an ordinary variety show but I didn’t expect that it would turn out that way. Teachers were great. I am proud of being a student of Taligaman National High School”, said Petchie Asio, Grade 10 student.
This is just the beginning of the school’s commitment to entertainment for a cause. The group intends to produce shows yearly for its many advocacies towards school improvement; and faculty and staff development. If the excitement over this show is any indication, this is the start of something big for Taligaman National High School, not just in Butuan City, but beyond. ## (By Glen B. Pacot)
