DepEd to celebrate NDPR week

The Department of Education (DepEd) celebrates the 2019 National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week with the theme “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan” from July 17 to 23, 2019.
Said celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation (PP) No. 1870, s. 1979. The observance culminates on the birthdate of the Sublime Paralytic: Apolinario Mabini on July 23 of every year pursuant to PP No. 361, s. 2000.
The NDPR week celebration was aimed to stimulate public awareness on the issues and problems of disability.
In a DepEd Memorandum No. 85, s. 2019 signed by secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, she encourages the participation of all public and private Elementary and Secondary School heads and take an active role in the upliftment of the economic and social conditions of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs in the country.
The schools can select appropriate school activities, which can be conducted at the school and/or schools division levels.
Also, all Special Education centers, and public and private schools with SPED programs are encouraged to undertake activities relevant to the theme of this year’s celebration. ###
